Let The Wind Carry Me - the new single!
This is the story of a family - partly mine, but also of other similar ones. My grandfather, Louis Mindel left Danilovich, in the region of Vilnius , in the early years of the 20th century. He came to London to find work that would enable the rest of the family to make the journey and start a new life. By 1916, Lou was in the Royal Flying Corps - and he lived a simple life as a tailor and a travelling salesman. This song plays tribute to him, and people like him, who made (and still make) sacrifices for themselves and their families.
It is not my family story, though the song's narrator bears a resemblance to Lou - as do I to the boy on the swing... perhaps!
Thanks to Teo Galesi for the musical production, also to Alastair Gavin, Joao Silva, PJ Ciarla for their musicianship and support, and to film-maker Elspeth Graham whose professional debut this is. You can find more about her work at elspethgraham.com
